Sphere IT: Dedicated to Bloggers

My 40 mins journey with Sphere helped me to understand the importance of Blog Search Engines in today’s blogging world. No wonder! This web 2.0 technology impressed me. I'm sure; you would also fall in love with Sphere after reading this blog!

What is Sphere?

In simple words, it is a blog search engines in the form of Bookmark. It would help you to find blogs related to the respective topic. As per Sphere's creators (Martin Remy, Steve Nieker,Toni Schneider, Tony Conrad):

"The Sphere It! Bookmarklet is a free bookmarklet that makes it easy to find blog posts that relate to what you're reading on the Web. It may change your life"

This San Francisco based blog bookmarklet can be accessed by hitting the following URL:

http://www.sphere.com/

How to use it?

Internet Explorer Geeks: You may add it to IE favorites by right clicking on the button
. Please ignore the JavaScript warning message (Trust us!).

Once you are done with this, visit any of your preferred new. Click the Sphere It! icon (Choose this from IE Favorites) and in 10 seconds (on average), you'll get a blog search results page.

For Safari or Firefox: The good thing about Sphere is its compatibility with Safari & Firefox. We may install it by dragging this button

to browser's toolbar.

Besides, this Sphere also offers Search Plugin for Firefox & Sphere Search Widget for TypePad.

Most importantly, it has a feature of adding your own blog to Sphere’s contextual search results. One needs to install Sphere contextual widget on their blogs. I’ve also applied for one such widget. I received the following reply from Sphere team (Ahhhhhhh!) :

Dear TechnoPhiles,

Thanks for your interest in the Sphere Contextual Widget. We're crushed right now from the number of requests we've gotten in the past few days so we're going to be a bit slow in getting to your request. We're very flattered by your interest, but please be patient as we get caught up. Expect to hear back from us in the next few weeks.

Best,
The Sphere Team

Bottom-line: I found this quite useful and helpful. It is an an easy-to-use, intuitive blog search engine. It gave me posts ordered by relevance or time (I loved this most).

For me, Sphere scored 9 out of 10.
